Independent Review (PBS)

The Independent Review (PBS) was established as part of Australia’s implementation of the pharmaceutical provisions of the Australia-United States Free Trade Agreement (AUSFTA). From 1 January 2005, independent review has been available to any applicant whose submission to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) has not resulted in a recommendation to list the drug on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). http://www.independentreviewpbs.gov.au/

National Prescribing Service (NPS) is a non-profit organisation independent of government (although funds are provided by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care) and the pharmaceutical industry. Their goal is to improve the health of Australians through quality prescribing of medicines. Product recalls – Therapeutic goods

Provides recall information for therapeutic goods on the Australian market. A product recall is the removal of a therapeutic good from supply due to an ‘established deficiency in quality, efficacy or safety’.
