National cervical screening program

The National Cervical Screening Program aims to reduce morbidity and deaths from cervical cancer, in a cost-effective manner through an organised approach to cervical screening. The Program encourages women in the target population to have regular Pap smears. A new vaccine will be provided free to all women and girls aged between 12 and 26 through the National HPV Vaccination Program. This new vaccine can protect them against the cause of most cervical cancers.http://www.cancerscreening.gov.au/internet/screening/publishing.nsf/Content/cervical-about
